Site Challenges

The site was situated on a busy side road with several local public amenities nearby, including a school, nursery, library, and retirement home. Ensuring the safety of pedestrians and vehicles was therefore a key priority, requiring a comprehensive traffic management plan to maintain smooth movement throughout the works.

Due to the site’s constraints, a full road closure with two-way temporary traffic lights was implemented. As the road forms part of a bus route, extensive communication with local residents and stakeholders was essential. This included providing advance information on the project schedule, guidance on property access, and regular updates to minimise disruption during construction.

Despite the challenges, the project progressed smoothly, with works delivered efficiently and safely. First-time maintenance approval was granted by the local authority, highlighting the effectiveness of planning, coordination, and stakeholder engagement throughout the scheme.
