Works Involved
- Extensive traffic management implemented, including directional road closure and diversions.
- Resolved design queries to ensure sign off was successfully achieved first time.
- Reconstruction of paved footway including tactile crossing points and kerb lines.
- Resurfacing of cycleway.
- Widening of carriageway approach to roundabout, to increase vehicle stacking.
- Reconstruction of grass verges within road widening area.
- Installation of signage.
- Application of road markings to suit the revised road layout.

Site Challenges
Prior to commencing works on site, a level discrepancy was identified during pre-construction surveys. Collaboration with the designer was required to address potential low spots in the carriageway, ensuring a smooth and compliant road surface and preventing delays.
The site presented additional challenges due to its narrow working area, restricting access for machinery and personnel, during footway and carriageway reconstruction. Careful planning and sequencing were essential to maintain safety and efficiency throughout the works.
Unforeseen ground conditions were encountered during construction. By working closely with the design team, the capping layer depth was increased to address these conditions without affecting the programme, allowing the works to be completed within the allocated road space.
Vista’s consult-and-construct approach ensured first-time sign-off by the local authority. The project was delivered on schedule, meeting all technical requirements and successfully removing any potential liability from our client.
