Delivery of a new traffic signal network for Hartlepool Borough Council, improving road safety and traffic flow. The project was on a key Hartlepool arterial route requiring safe and efficient traffic management to maintain pedestrian and vehicle flow. Extensive stakeholder coordination and careful planning enabled road closures, diversions, and works near live utilities. Vista delivered all aspects to a high standard, including a low-voltage mains connection for new traffic signals, achieving first-time acceptance at every milestone.

Works Involved
- Extensive traffic management implemented, including directional road closures and diversions.
- Clearance and removal of trees, grass verge to facilitate footway and carriageway construction, existing highway drainage gullies, street furniture, non-illuminated and illuminated signage, non-illuminated bollards, street lighting columns, and existing road markings.
- Installation of traffic signal network, including electrical mains connection for feeder pillar, traffic signal control cabinets, duct chambers and associated ducting, loop boxes, and pole retention sockets.
- Installation of street furniture, including non-illuminated and illuminated signage, non-illuminated bollards, pedestrian guardrails, and street lighting columns.
- Footway construction and resurfacing works.
- Carriageway widening, installation of highway gullies, drainage lengths and stepped trench reconstruction.
- Application of road markings to suit the revised road layout.

Site Challenges
Located on a key arterial route into Hartlepool, the works demanded traffic management systems that were safe, efficient and practical, ensuring the continuous movement of both pedestrian and vehicles throughout the programme.
The scheme involved extensive coordination with multiple stakeholders, alongside detailed planning to accommodate the works and enable the required road closures plus diversion routes to be implemented.
Delivery was further complicated by the need to work in close proximity to live utilities, as well as the installation of a low voltage mains connection to support the new traffic signal infrastructure. We provided expertise and constructed all aspects of the project to a high standard which ensured that acceptance of works was achieved first time at each critical milestone.
